KEARNEY, Neb. (Jan. 28, 2021) - Central Missouri Mules Wrestling had the tough task of taking on the No. 2 team in the country in Nebraska-Kearney Thursday night. Having to leave four weight classes open didn't help the cause as the Mules fell to the Lopers 49-6 in their first MIAA dual of the season.
Starting off at 125 pounds, freshman
Trevor Wishne was against No. 1 ranked senior Josh Portillo. Wishne fought hard scoring six points, but Portillo scored a tech fall after the first round 22-6.Â
The Mules got the win back in their next match. After leaving open 133, 141 and 149,
John Ridle was next up on the mat. He secured a win by fall in 1:19 to get the Mules on the board.
Those were the only points for the Mules against the Lopers.
Emmett Kuntz went the distance in a 7-4 decision loss at 165 pounds. The Lopers picked up another win via tech fall and two more falls in their 49-6 win.
Central Missouri remains on the road tomorrow evening taking on Fort Hays State at 7 p.m.
