HAYS, Kan. -- No. 24 University of Central Missouri Mules wrestling team had five placers with three finalists in the FHSU Bob Smith Open Sunday, Dec. 8. They were led by
Jack Lage,
Ayden Dolt, and
Conner Johnston.
Lage, a redshirt-freshman from Jefferson City, Mo., took runner up in the open division at 141 pounds. He won two by fall (1:57, 2:23), one by a major decision of 17-6, and one by decision of 4-2.
Dolt, a redshirt-freshman from Excelsior Springs, Mo., took runner up at 149 pounds in the open division. He won four of five matches including three falls (4:26, 2:48, 1:32), and one by technical fall (18-0).
Johnston, a redshirt-sophomore from Knob Noster, Mo., took runner up at 165 pounds. He won four of five matches including two by decision (5-1,10-5), one by technical fall (15-0) and one by a major decision of 13-5.
The Mules will return to competition on Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Midwest Classic in Indianapolis, Indiana.
