WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- No. 24-ranked University of Central Missouri Mules wrestling had 13 placers with seven finalists and three champions in the Kaufman Brand Bayly Open Sunday, Nov. 24, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center.
UCM was led by
Jakason Burks, No. 11
John Ridle and No. 4
Damon Ashworth who took the championships in their respective weight classes.
Burks, a senior from Omaha, Neb., won the elite division at 125 pounds. He did not give up an offensive point and went 3-0 on the day, including two wins by technical fall (18-1,19-4) and one by a major decision of 9-1.
Ridle, a junior from West Dundee, Ill., took first place at 157 pounds in the elite division. He won all of his matches, including two technical falls (15-0, 16-0), one by fall (4:08), and one by decision (9-3).
Ashworth, a redshirt-junior from Excelsior Springs, Mo., took first place at 184 pounds. He went undefeated on the day, including two wins by fall (1:25, 1:51), one by technical fall (15-0) and one via major decision (16-4).
The Mules will return to competition on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Doane Open in Crete, Nebraska.
