WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Central Missouri Jennies (16-7, 2-2) their doubleheader against the Northern State Wolves (6-9, 0-0) winning game one by a final score of 8-6 and winning game two 10-2 (5 inn.), from Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg.
Game 1: Central Missouri 8, Northern State 6
The Jens got on the board first thanks to a
MaKenzie Cooper sacrifice fly that scored
Abbey Fischer in the bottom of the first inning, as UCM added three more in the third. Beginning with an
Abby Allnutt RBI single, the Jens increased the lead to 4-0 with an RBI single from
Jessica Sader followed by an RBI single from catcher
Laney Killpack.
The Wolves responded with a pair of solo homers in the top of the fourth, but UCM added three runs in the bottom of the inning from
Lexi Blackmon and
Aubrie McRoberts making it 7-2 UCM. After a
Makenzie McAtee RBI single in the bottom of the fifth, Northern State responded with four in the sixth, but pitcher
Mandy Hansen limited Northern State's comeback efforts throwing 1 1/3 scoreless innings striking out three.
Paige Petefish (5-1) picks up her fifth win of the season going 5 2/3 innings striking out six while McRoberts (2-4, 1 run scored, 1 RBI), Sader (2-3, 1 RBI) and
Jadyn Sheffield (2-2, 1 run scored) led the Jennies offensively.
Game 2: Central Missouri 10, Northern State 2 (5 inn.)
In game two of the day, the Jens scored first with an
Ashlyn Cook solo homer in the bottom of the first. The Wolves tied the game in the top of the second with an RBI double, but Central Missouri responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning off the bats of
Halle Howes, Sheffield and Fischer making it 4-1 Jens.
McAtee added an insurance run in the third with a solo shot to right field followed by another three-run frame for Central Missouri in the fourth with RBI singles from Fischer, Cook and Sader increasing the lead to 8-1. After a solo homerun for NSU in the top of the fifth, short stop
Abbey Fischer (3-4, 4 RBI, 2 runs scored overall) sealed the victory with a two-run homer in the fifth.
Andi Siebeneck (4-2) threw a complete game allowing four hits, two runs (two earned runs) and striking out six Wolves on 65 pitches for her fourth win of the season.
