KEARNEY, Neb. (Jan. 23, 2021) - Central Missouri wrestling faced top-ranked competition at the Annual Midwest Duals hosted by Nebraska-Kearney. John Ridle led the Mules with an undefeated performance at 157 pounds. 

Central Missouri opened the Midwest Duals against the No. 3 Bronchos of Central Oklahoma in a MIAA match up. Central Oklahoma entered the duals with a 3-0 overall record and a 1-0 record in the MIAA. Ridle was the Mules only point scorer against the Bronchos, stealing the show with a 3-0 decision win over the second-ranked 157 pounder in Division II, Ty Lucas. 

Trevor Wishne suffered his first league loss to Paxton Rosen at 125 pounds as the freshmen was pinned in 2:27. Cole Hatfield also lost by fall at 165 pounds to Dayton Garrett. Central Oklahoma's ninth-ranked 174 pounder Wyatt Jordan defeated Zion Vasquez with a 18-0 technical fall in the second period. Jack Goin suffered a 16-1 technical fall to the top-ranked 184 pounder in Division II wrestling, Heath Grey. Ranked third at 197 pounds, UCO's Dalton Abney pined Joe Brady in 1:36. Central Missouri wrestled open at 133, 141, 149, and 285 pounds for the No. 3 Bronchos to win it 52-3.

Emmett Kuntz and Ridle were the only victorious Mules in UCM's 42-6 loss ot Chardon State. At 157 pounds, Ridle's 9-5 decision victory over Preston Renner was followed with a 4-2 decision win by Kuntz over Tate Allison at 165 pounds. Bryce Faworski competed in his first dual for the Mules at 174 pounds. The freshmen lost a 4-1 decision to Rowdy Pfell, the fourth-ranked 174 pounder in Division II. Also losing by decision was Goin with a 7-2 loss at 184 pounds to Joseph Renner. At 197 pounds, Joe Brady lasted a full round before falling to Eli Hlnojosa in 5:32. Chardon's Tate Stoddard recorded the fastest fall of the dual pinning Wishne in 1:28 at 125 pounds. Central Missouri wrestled open at 133, 141, 149, and 285 pounds. 

Central Missouri faced another top-10 program in their final dual of the day against No. 10 Adams State. The dual opened with a UCM victory at 125 pounds due to an Adams State forfeit. Ridle was responsible for three more UCM points as he won his third and final match of the day in a 9-5 decision over Dylan Udero. At 165 pounds, Hatfield suffered the lone fall of the match in 2:16 against Aaden Valdez, who ranks 10th in Division II. Adams State recorded three major decision victories at 174, 184 and 197 pounds as Faworski lost 16-5, Goin 13-1, and Brady 10-1. Again, UCM wrestled opened at 133, 141, 149, and 285 pounds and fell to No. 10 Adams State 42-9. 

Ridle led the Mules with nine points in his 3-0 performance at the duals. He is now 4-0 to begin the season. 

Mules wrestling returns to action Thursday, Jan. 28th as they travel back to Kearney to take on the No. 2 Lopers in an MIAA showdown. The dual is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. in Nebraska-Kearney's Health and Sports Center.
