HAYS, Kan. (Jan. 30, 2019) - Central Missouri Mules Wrestling started off hot with two wins out of the gates, but couldn't keep up the moment falling to Fort Hays State 35-5. The Mules drop to 0-5 this season and 0-4 in the MIAA.
Starting off at 125 where
Justin Mitchell earned a 7-3 decision over Broderick Green. After a clean first period, both grapplers picked up a takedown and an escape in the second. Tied at three going into the third, Mitchell pulled away with an escape, takedown and a penalty point after Green was called twice for stalling.
The Mules made it back-to-back wins with
John Feeney also landing a decision victory, 802 over Payton Sadowski at 133 pounds. Feeney got the lead in the first period with a takedown and led the rest of the way, earning three points for UCM.
That's where the Mules luck ran out though. The Tigers rattled off eight victories to end the match. The Mules lost a point late due to a misconduct penalty.
The Mules continue their road trip next week when they go to Kirksville, Mo. to take on Truman State Wednesday, Feb. 6.
