Grapplers Set for UNK Midwest Duals

• Central Missouri Mules Wrestling is back on the road as they are set to compete at the UNK Midwest Duals this Saturday, Jan. 13. The Mules will take on three teams in Colorado Mesa, Mary, and Colorado School of Mines.
• UCM is 3-6 overall and 1-1 in MIAA dual action this year. They have wins over Truman State, Ouachita Baptist, and MIAA foe Newman.
• The Mules have one tournament left in the regular season as they will host the annual Roger Denker Open on Jan. 21 at the Multi. They have fared well in their four tournaments this season with 22 overall placewinners and two champions.
• The Mules still have yet to compete in a home dual this season. They will not be home for a dual until Jan. 24, when they take on the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers.
John Feeney still sits No. 12 in Division II at 125 pounds. The sophomore is 8-7 overall on the season and has seen action at 133 pounds as well.
Jesse Reser has come on strong for UCM 165 pounds. Since returning to the lineup at the New Year, he is 5-0 this season.

Series History
Central Missouri vs. Colorado Mesa: Never Met
The Mules and Mavericks will meet for the first time ever in a dual competition. The Mavericks will look to end a three-dual losing streak, while the Mules will try to pick up their second straight dual win and fourth overall this season.

Series History
Central Missouri vs. Mary: 5-2-0
The Mules have the series lead against the Marauders, but will look to avenge a dual loss to them from a season ago. Mary defeated UCM, 28-18, last year at the UNK Duals. Mary's only other win came in 2009-10 season, 24-15.

Series History
Central Missouri vs. Colorado School of Mines: 3-0-0
The Mules have yet to drop a dual to the Orediggers in the two team's three matchups. Last year at the UNK Midwest Duals, UCM defeated Colorado School of Mines, 25-19.

Scouting the Competition
Colorado Mesa
• The Mavericks ara 1-4-1 in dual competition this season and are 0-0-1 in the RMAC. They tied Chadron State, 20-20, back on Dec. 2, 2017, but loss the dual on criteria. Their lone win was against No. 11 Simon Fraser, 28-17, back on Jan. 4.
• In the 2017-18 RMAC Coaches' Preseason Poll, the Mavs were picked to finish third. Last season, Mesa finished fourth at the RMAC Championships.
• At 149 pounds, John Daniel leads the way for the Mavericks with an 11-8 record. In dual action, Daniel has done well going 4-2 on the season.
• Bruno Nicoletti is two wins behind Daniel with 9-5 record at 174 pounds. He went 3-0 last week at the Tracy Borah Duals in Gunnison, Colo. 

#22 Mary
 • The Muarauders enter the weekend 3-1 overall in duals and 2-1 in Northern Sun competition. In the latest NWCA top-25 poll, Mary checks in at No. 22 in the country with two grapplers nationally ranked.
 • Mary was picked finish sixth in the NSIC Coaches' Preseason Poll. In Super Region III, Mary sits eighth.
• Redshirt sophomore Rudy Guillen leads Mary this season. He is ranked fourth nationally at 149 pounds. He is second on the team in wins with a 13-1 record.
• Junior Tate Barnhardt is the second ranked grappler for Mary. He is 12th at 133 pounds and has the most wins with a 16-4 record.

Colorado School of Mines
• The Orediggers are off a solid start in dual action with a perfect 4-0 record. Against RMAC opponents, they are 1-0 on the year, with the win coming against Chadron State, 20-16, back on Jan. 11.
• Colorado Mines has done well with a relatively young lineup for most of the season. Five freshman are currently in the starting lineup in Taylor Gambill (141), Noah Ottum (149), TJ Shelton (174), Connor Ventura (184), and Weston Hunt (285).
• Keenan Willitz is the only ranked grappler for the Orediggers. The redshirt junior is ranked  No. 10 nationally at 165 pounds. He is 11-1 on the season and is undefeated against Division II opponents this season.
