WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Jan. 8, 2017)-- The Central Missouri Mules Wrestling team (4-1, 1-1 MIAA) dropped its first dual of the season in a 38-6 loss to the No. 8 Central Oklahoma Bronchos Friday afternoon in the Multi.

The Mules scored their only points in the 165-pound weight class from Jesse Reser, while the Bronchos controlled the rest of the dual. At 125 pounds, Erick Vargas dropped his second straight dual as he was wined in 2:15. 133 pounder John Feeney dropped a close 10-7 decision to Blake Dauphin.

At 141 pounds Bradley Irwin struggled, dropping a 9-2 decision. Zachary Schridde, at 149 pounds, fell to Will Steltzlen in a 9-6 decision. The Mules continued to struggle against the Bronchos, as Steffon Fassett dropped an 8-3 decision at 157 pounds. The Mules trailed 18-0 at the midway point of the dual.

At 165 pounds, Reser got the Mules on the board as he pinned Danny Carrillo in 43 seconds. Carrillo entered today's dual ranked No. 5 in Super Region Four at 165 pounds with a record of 8-5. Reser's pin brought the score to 18-6.

The Brochos extended the lead the 24-6, as the Mules were open at 174 pounds. At 184 pounds, Allan Person battled with Caleb Hawes in all three periods, but Hawes held off Person to score a 7-6 decision.

197 pounder Grant Sparks, who did not wrestle in the Mules dual win over Newman, returned to action today. He dropped a 15-2 major decision to Greg Wilson as the Mules deficit grew to 31-6. In the final bout, at 285 pounds, Chase Miller was pinned in 1:28.

The Mules have another tough test ahead of them as they will travel to St. Cloud, Minn. on Jan. 12, to take on No. 1 ranked and defending Division II national champions St. Cloud State. Action gets underway at 7 p.m.
