WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Jan. 5, 2017)-- Fresh off a 25-24 dual victory over Drury, the Central Missouri Mules Wrestling team returns home to take on a pair of MIAA foes in Newman and Central Oklahoma. The Mules will host Newman Friday, Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. and Central Oklahoma Sunday, Jan. 8 at 3 p.m. in the Multi.
Series History
Central Missouri vs. Newman: 8-3
The Mules and Jets last met in the 2015-16 season with UCM walking away on top, 22-16, over Newman.
Central Missouri vs. Central Oklahoma: 0-37
The Mules have never won a dual against the Bronchos in the 37 times they have matched up. UCO downed UCM, 38-9, last season in Edmond.

• The Mules are 3-0 in duals entering this weekend as they begin MIAA competition. They defeated Drury, 25-24, Wednesday Jan. 4 in their first ever matchup with the Panthers.

Scouting the Competition
Newman
• The Jets sit at the No. 23 spot nationally entering the weekend. Their dual against the Mules will be their first of 2016-17 season and will be an MIAA matchup.
• The Jets were picked to finish sixth in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll while picking up six points.
• The Jets return their lone All-American from the 2015-16 season in senior Dustin Reed. He finished fifth at the NCAA-II Wrestling Championships last season at 125 pounds and was undefeated in MIAA duals at 5-0.
•The Jets are led by Head Coach Ryan Smith who enters his 12th year with the program as a coach and his eighth as a head coach.
• The top wrestlers for the Jets entering this weekend are Dustin Reed (125 lbs.) and Tyler Mies (149 lbs.) with records of 11-2 and 18-10, respectively.
• The Jets have competed in five tournaments this season.
Central Oklahoma
• The Bronchos enter the weekend 7-0 in duals this season and ranked No. 8 in Division II wrestling. Their dual against the Mules will be their first in MIAA competition.
• The Bronchos were picked to finish third in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll, totaling 18 points. UCO returns 29 wrestlers from last season, six of which were starters.
• Leading the way for the Bronchos are Joshua Lindsey (125 lbs.) at 19-4, Migueal Barreras (174 lbs.) at 24-5, and Caleb Cotter (285 lbs.) at 20-2.
• Head Coach Todd Steidley enters his first year with the Bronchos. Prior to joining UCO, Steidley won several state titles as a head coach in Oklahoma and was a former National Champion for the Bronchos at 142 pounds.
• The 2015-16 season marked the first time since the 1973 season where the Bronchos did not have a single wrestler garner All-American status. That span included a 26 year stretch at the NCAA Division II level (1999-2015).
