The No. 12 Central Missouri Mules will face the Baker Wildcats in their first dual of the 2014-15 season. The Mules are returning several starters from last season, including National Champion Frank Cagnina (149) and All-American Ty Loethen. Baker also returns a National Champion, Bryce Shoemaker, and an All-American, Nick Haugen (157).

Central Missouri vs. Baker: Preview
The Mules will start either sophomore Malacai Collins or junior transfer Justin Forrest at 125 pounds to face freshman Alex Fortuna. Collins was the 125 pound starter last season, with a 19-12 overall record. Forrest competed at Oklahoma and Lindenwood before coming to Central Missouri. Forrest beat Collins twice by decision at the UCM wrestle offs. While either Collins or Forrest could also compete at 133 pounds later this season, the starting spot will go to true freshman Donte Boose for the Baker dual. He was a three-time state qualifier in high school, and won the state title last season. Boose will face the returning National Champion, Shoemaker.

Zadac Lankford, Logan Cairer, Grant Sparks, and Marshall Purtee will also make their first collegiate start at the dual. Lankford will compete at 141 pounds after redshirting last season, and will wrestle freshman Juan Rivera. Cairer (157) will face either All-American Haugen, or junior Connor Middleton. Cairer redshirted last season, but competed unattached, compiling a 14-7 overall record, with three falls and a major decision. The Mules will go with Sparks at 184 pounds to go against Bryan Guillen. Sparks also competed unattached at tournaments last season, including a sixth place finish the Roger Denker Open.  True freshman Purtee (285) will take on Beau Bennett. Purtee was All-Conference and a state qualifier in high school.

Central Missouri will fill the remaining starting positions with returning members. No. 1 Cagnina will reclaim his starting spot at 149 pounds, and will look to extend his 29-match win streak from last season in his match against freshman Tyler Dickman. Next, All-MIAA honoree, Josh Thomson will start at 165 pounds against Trever Sutton. Thomson was 23-15 last season, with four pins and five major decisions. The Central Missouri and Baker both have two options at 174 pounds. The Mules will choose between junior Mike Boyd and junior transfer Archie Williams, while the Wildcats have a pair of sophomores, Josh Thomas or Josh Ortiz, to pick from. Williams beat Boyd by decision at the UCM wrestle offs. Sophomore Nicholas Lovejoy will round-out the Mules starting line-up at 197, facing Billy Leone. Lovejoy was 8-12 last season, with three falls and a technical fall.
