Throckmorton Sets Javelin School Record at SBU Bearcat Invitational Saturday

BOLIVAR, Mo. – The University of Central Missouri track & field team had several strong performances, including a school record, on Saturday, March 29, at the Southwest Baptist University Bearcat Invitational at Plaster Stadium.

Throws
  • The Jennies had three student-athletes finish in the top five of the women's javelin. Freshman Addison Throckmorton won the event with a provisional and personal-best throw of 50.09m (164-4) while Karsyn Kanzler was fourth with a provisional and personal-best 47.02m (154-3), and Ally Fox was fifth with a provisional and personal-best 46.58m (152-10). Throckmorton's mark is a new UCM program record while Kansler's mark ties for second-best in school history and Fox's is third best on the UCM program record list.
  • Landon Mason was fourth in the men's discus with a personal-best 50.14m (164-6)
  • Kaitlyn Hatfield placed fourth in the women's discus with a personal-best mark of 40.10m (131-7).
Jumps
  • The Jennies had three top five performers in the women's long jump. Marissa Austene won the event with a provisional and personal-best mark of 5.97m (19-07.00) while Phebe Thompson was third with a mark of 5.69m (18-08.00) and Aubree Bell was fifth with a mark of 5.39m (17-08.25). Austene's mark ranks sixth best in outdoor program history.
  • Reagan Ulrich and Weston Edwards both recorded top five finishes in the men's pole vault. Ulrich placed first with a provisional mark of 5.06m (16-07.25) while Edwards was fifth with a mark of 4.36m (14-03.50).
  • The Mules went 2-4 in the men's high jump. Zachary Proctor was runner-up with a mark of 1.99m (6-06.25) while Wyatt Irwin was fourth with a mark of 1.94m (6-04.25).
  • The Mules had two, top five finishers in the men's long jump in Loch Louis and Jeremy Bennett. Louis was fourth with a mark of 6.90m (22-7.75) while Bennett was fifth with a mark of 6.88m (22-07.00).
  • The Jennies' Haley Sexton and Kaira Mannio finished runner-up and fourth in the women's pole vault. Sexton was runner-up with a personal-best 3.65m (11-11.75) on her first attempt while Mannio was fourth with a personal-best 3.65m (11-11.75) on her second attempt. Both marks are tied for sixth-best in outdoor school history.
  • Myah Morris placed third in the women's triple jump with a mark of 11.48m (37-08.00).
Sprints/Hurdles
  • The Jennies' Brooklynn Holtman posted a top five finish in the women's 100m dash, placing fifth with a time of 11.91. She also was top five in the women's 200m dash, finishing fourth with a time of 24.20.
  • The Mules' Jackson Carter finished fifth in the men's 100m dash with a personal-best time of 10.69.
Distance/Steeplechase
  • The Mules had three, top five finishers in the men's 3,000m steeplechase. Bryan O'Barr placed first with a time of 9:36.80, Brady Maher was third with a time of 9:53.28, and Sam Mathis was fourth with a time of 10:01.36.
  • Evan Finger placed fifth in the men's 1,500m run with a time of 4:00.24.
Relays The Mules & Jennies are slated to return to action Saturday, April 5, at the Pittsburg State Gorilla Relays in Pittsburg, Kan.
