Jennies Softball Sweeps RiverHawks, Cook Records 200th Career Hit

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Central Missouri Jennies (22-11, 6-4) swept their doubleheader with the Northeastern State RiverHawks (18-15, 0-8) by a final score of 7-1 and 4-0 on Saturday, April 1, from Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg.
 
The Jennies return to the diamond on Sunday, April 2, hosting No. 8 Rogers State Hillcats for a conference doubleheader beginning at noon from Jennies Field.   
 
Game 1: Central Missouri 7, Northeastern State 1
UCM wasted no time getting on the board in game one scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning thanks to an RBI groundout from Abby Allnutt and an RBI single from Jessica Sader. The Jens would plate a pair of runs in the second with an RBI single from Peyton Corrigan and a two-run homer from Abbey Fischer making it 4-0 Jens.
 
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Ashlyn Cook hit a single up the middle making her the fifth Jennie in program history to record 200 career hits and scored one batter later with a two-run shot off the bat of McAtee increasing the lead to 7-0.
 
The Riverhawks responded with a run in the top of the sixth, but Paige Petefish (7-2) limited NSU to just six hits while striking out eight on 89 pitches picking up her sixth complete game of the season while UCM had eight players collect a hit.
 
Game 2: Central Missouri 4, Northeastern 0
The Jennies picked up right where they left off in game two jumping out to a 3-0 lead after one inning with RBIs from Allnutt, MaKenzie Cooper and Sader. In the bottom of the second with runners on the corners and one out, Jadyn Sheffield scored on a double steal increasing the lead to 4-0.
 
Andi Siebeneck (7-2) picked up her seventh win of the season including her fifth complete game allowing just four hits and struck out four RiverHawks on 88 pitches while Lexi Blackmon and Fischer (one run scored) led UCM with two hits respectively.
