WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Feb. 14, 2019) - There was plenty of love to go around in Central Missouri Mules Baseball Valentine's Day doubleheader sweep of Minnesota Crookston. Offense, defense, pitching, the Mules had it all working in their 19-2 and 12-2 win, as they swept the three game set with the Golden Eagles and move to 5-4 on the year.
Game One: Central Missouri 19, Minnesota-Crookston 2
Play-by-Play
• Twelve different Mules collected hits in the win while the Golden Eagles had just three.
• The Mules scored in five of the six innings they came to bat.
• Things started, as they normally do, with
Mason Janvrin. He led off with a single, stole second and scored on
Erik Webb's sacrifice fly.
•
Ben Kelsch set the first six Crookston batters down in order and carried a no-hitter into the fifth.
• By that time, the Mules had given him plenty of run support, scoring five in the third and seven in the fourth.
Harrison Schnurbusch had the big hit in the third, a two-run shot to left.
Alex Madera and
Micah Evans also had RBI hits in the inning.
• In the fourth, UCM sent 12 men to the plate.
Michael Sinks' triple scored the first two runs of the inning. He came around to score on Schnurbusch's sacrifice fly. Evans scored another two with his second double in as many innings, finding room down the third-base line for two bags. A dropped pop fly allowed the sixth run to score and Madera's infield single scored another run as UCM led 12-0 after four.
• The Golden Eagles finally got their first hit in the fifth, a single over the bag at third. Kelsch erased him though on a double-play and kept UMC off the board before departing after five.
• UCM's offense was far from finished though and the wind was blowing out to left.
Patrick Connor took advantage for his first home run leading off the fifth. A wild pitch scored Schnurbusch from third and
Gaven Strobel plated Evans with a triple over the head of the centerfielder.
• Two more Mules hit their first career home-runs in the sixth.
Eli Wells connected for a solo shot and
John Prudhom scored two more with a blast to left.
• Minnesota-Crookston plated a pair of unearned runs in the sixth and seventh, but it wasn't near enough as the Mules won game one, 19-2.

Game Two: Central Missouri 12, Minnesota-Crookston 2
Play-by-Play
• Things picked up in game two right where they left off in game one. Eight of the nine Mules starters collected at least one hit, and after the first, UCM scored in each inning they took a turn at bat.
•
Mason Green took a lesson from Kelsch in game one and decided to better him. He carried a no-hitter all the way into the seventh and departed without allowing a hit.
• After a scoreless first,
Mason Janvrin got the scoring started, driving in
Micah Evans with a two-out single to center.
• An inning later, the wind was still blowing out to left and
Erik Webb and
Michael Sinks took advantage, going back-to-back and putting the Mules on top, 3-0.
• As Green kept dealing, the Mules kept scoring. UCM scored three in the fourth with only one ball leaving the infield. That was
Cole Hoover's who started the frame with a single to right. With the bases loaded, UCM went station-to-station as Sinks singled to short, Schnurbusch was hit by a pitch and
Cole Taylor singled to first.
Micah Evans made it 7-0 scoring Sinks with a sacrifice fly to center.Â
• The Mules reached double-digit runs for the third straight game, adding three in the fifth.
Alex Madera, Webb and Sinks had three-straight RBI hits, as Green was now spotted a 10-0 lead.
• After Janvrin made it 11-0 with an RBI single in the sixth, Green needed just three outs to finish up the no-hitter. After walking the leadoff hitter with his pitch count at 81, he was lifted for
Max Abramovich, but the no-no was still in tact. Abramovich retired the first batter he faced, but a walk and a home run ended the no-hitter and the shutout in one fell swoop at 6.1 innings.
• To prove that everything was going the Mules way, even when they surrendered a home run, they still managed to get an out on the same play. The high fly didn't leave the yard by much and the runner at first base was back on the bag tagging up when the batter, Scott Finberg passed him on the bases turning a three-run home run, into a two-run shot.
• Needing just one more run to invoke the 10-run rule,
Harrison Schnurbusch made sure to do it all himself. He walked to lead off the seventh, moved to second on a wild pitch, stole third and scored the game-ending run on another wild pitch.
