Jennies Celebrate 25th Anniversary in 1-0 Victory

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Oct. 25, 2019) - No. 5 Central Missouri Soccer celebrated the program's 25th Anniversary Friday night on Jennies Field while picking up their sixth league win in a 1-0 victory over Washburn.

How it Happened: 
• First-half possession was evenly distributed between the Jennies and the Ichabods. Washburn finished with three shots in the first 45 minutes while UCM recorded six.
• The first and only goal of the match was scored by Makayla Toth in the 71st minute, assisted by Kassie Newsom and Skylar Drum. 
• With eight more shots in the second half, the Jennies out shot the Ichabods 14-5. 

Leading the Ichabods:
• Washburn's offensive leader Tera Lynch lead the Ichabods with two shots, each on goal.
• The Ichabods MIAA Goalie of the Week Raegan Wells had multiple big-time saves as she finished with eight.

For the Jennies:
• Toth was 4-for-4 with shots on goal and scored the only goal of the night.
• Newsom and Drum both created the Jennies scoring opportunity in the 71st minute, earning assists.  
• Haley Freeman finished with three shots while Newsom and Lindsay Edmonds each finished with two. 
• A total of seven different Jennies recorded shots against the Ichabods.
• UCM keeper Lindsey Johnson saved all three shots she faced on goal.

News & Notes:
• Toth's goal against Washburn was her 14th of the season. Toth leads the MIAA in points and ranks seventh in Division II, while her 14 goals ranks second in the league. 
• Newsom now has seven assists on the season, ranking fourth in the league.
• Drum's assist tonight was her first of her career. 
• This was UCM's 14th consecutive win against the Ichabods as they increase their lead in the all-time series to 26-5-1.
• Johnson and the Jennies defense now has six shutouts this season. 

Up Next:
The now 12-1-1 fifth-ranked Jennies return to their home field on Sunday, Oct. 27th to take on Emporia State in another MIAA matchup. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. in Warrensburg. UCM will honor their three seniors Kelsey Mueller, Allysa Gann and Madi Sanders a few moments before kickoff.
