Jennies Shut Out Lincoln in Sweep

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (April 20, 2018) – Central Missouri Jennies Softball picked up a pair of 9-0 six inning victories against the Lincoln Blue Tigers Friday afternoon. The sweep puts UCM at 29-19 overall and 18-6 in the MIAA.

Game One - Central Missouri 9, Lincoln 0 - 6 innings
Play-by- Play

• The Jennies wasted little time grabbing the lead and never let it go. Payton Summers drove in the first run with a double to left field to score Taylor Dames. Alexa Bradley got the start in the circle and was solid as she allowed just two hits.
• After holding Lincoln (5-41, 0-24 MIAA) hitless in the bottom of the first, UCM pushed its lead to 4-0 with three runs scored on two hits. Alexis Koop doubled left center to bring in Kaitlyn Markin. Allie Dishinger followed her up with a two-run homer to left field and the Jennies were in complete control.
• The Jennies scored three runs in the fourth to get up 7-0 on Lincoln. Courtni Smith tripled to right center and crossed home plate on a Lauryn Deer sacrifice fly. Taylor Dames then hit a solo home run to center field. Following an Emily King double, Summers got her home with a double of her own.
• Two more UCM runs in the sixth ended the game early. Dames tripled center field to score Deer who had a leadoff single. After King was walked and Jo Johnson was hit by pitch, Brie Murray grounded out to second to score Dames for the 9-0 win.

Jennies Stat Leaders
• Dames finished 2-3, with two RBI, three runs scored to go along with a home run.
• Summers also had two hits in three at bats. She had two RBI, with both hits being doubles.
• Dishinger went 1-2 in the game that was good for a home run and two RBI.
• Deer and Koop both had a hit to go along with a RBI each.
• Bradley pitched five innings of the shortened game. She allowed just two hits and had three strikeouts in the shutout to improve to 8-6.

For the Blue Tigers
• Lincoln had just two hits in the game. Tori Nienhuser had one of those hits in three plate appearances.
• The second hit belonged to Camryn Pryor, who went 1-2. 
• Alyssa Schulte came on in relief and gave up two runs on two hits in 2.1 innings pitched. 

Game Two - Central Missouri 9, Lincoln 0 - 6 innings
Play-by- Play

• The second game got off to a slower start than game one. Both teams went down quietly in the first two innings.
• The excitement began for Central Missouri in the top of the third as they scored five runs on four hits. Allie Dishinger started the scoring on a Lauryn Deer groundout. The next batter, Taylor Dames, smacked a double to left field that scored Courtni Smith. Central Missouri kept the line moving as Payton Summers, Hailey Crabtree, and Kaitlyn Markin all collected an RBI to put the Jens up 5-0. 
• Crabtree extended the Jennies lead to 6-0 in the fifth inning with a solo home run.
Sarah Brown had a no hitter going into the bottom of the fifth when she gave up a one out single. Brown and the Jennies defense worked out of the inning unscathed.
• The sixth inning sealed the victory for UCM. Dames knocked in her second run of the game with a single up the middle. Smith scored on a wild pitch in the following at bat. Jordan Johnson entered the game as a pinch hitter and hit a triple to score Dames to extend their lead to 9-0.
Shelby Clark came on in the bottom of the sixth in relief to complete the shutout.

Jennies Stat Leaders
Taylor Dames went 2-4 and collected two RBI and scored two runs.
Hailey Crabtree also had two hits in four at bats and two runs batted in. In her two hits, one fell for a triple and one home run.  
Courtni Smith scored two runs and stole a base.
Kaitlyn Markin was 2-2 and knocked in a run. She also stole a base.
Sarah Brown picked up her sixth win in the shutout. She pitched five innings and gave up just one hit and struck out three.

For the Blue Tigers
• Rachel Balke went 1-2 and walked once. 
• Chelsey Kerr also had one hit in two at bats.
• Delayne Patton had a rough day in the circle, pitching all six innings and surrendering all nine earned runs in the loss.

News and Notes
• The Jennies earned their 18th MIAA victory this season, the third most in Jennies history. They had 17 last year. 
Courtni Smith has reached base in 15 consecutive games. 
Emily King extended her hitting streak to five games. 
Sarah Brown has now pitched 13 straight scoreless innings. 

Up Next
• The Jennies finish up the regular season tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon against Lindenwood. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
