WINONA, Minn. (Sept. 10, 2017)-- The fourth-ranked Central Missouri Jennies Soccer team scored four goals for the third time in four games and continued to be a force on defense with a 4-0 shutout win over Winona State Sunday afternoon at Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium.
In her fourth start of the season, freshman
Makayla Toth scored a pair of goals for UCM and added one assist to pace the offense with five points. Redshirt senior
Abby Rhodes and junior
Jada Scott scored one goal apiece. In net,
Ana Dilkes posted her fourth straight shutout grabbing six saves in nine shots faced.
The Jennies got on the board at the 10:42 mark when
Megan Woolley got down the middle of the field and sent her pass to Rhodes on the left side where she hit the far right of the net. The assist is Woolley's first of the season.
UCM pushed its lead to 2-0 in the 20th minute when Toth scored her first career goal in a Jennie uniform. She handled the ball to the middle of the box and nailed her shot before the goalkeeper made a play on it.
Toth scored her second goal of the day in the 33rd minute with the help of a Scott assist as she dribbled past the goalkeeper and hit an empty net to give the Jennies a 3-0 lead. Scott's assist is her first of the season.
The Jennies held a 3-0 advantage going into halftime over the Warriors as they outshot them 8-3 overall.Â
The final goal for UCM came at the 63:05 mark when Scott weaved her way through the Winona State defense and handled an assist from Rhodes and Toth, respectively. Scott sailed her shot to the inside right post past the goalkeeper's reach to put the game away at 4-0.
Offensively, the Jennies finished the game with 16 total shots with 10 of them being on goal. Defensively, UCM held Winona State to nine total shots and six shots on goal to post its fourth straight shutout.
The Jennies will return to action Friday Sept. 15 to host MIAA foe Lindenwood in a non-conference match. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex.
