Jennies Battle with Emporia Ends in Sweep

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Nov. 4, 2017) - Central Missouri Volleyball won their second straight 3-0 over Emporia State. It took extra points in two of the three sets, but the Jens were up to the task to complete the sweep (26-24, 25-12, 28-26). With the win the Jennies are now 12-4 in the MIAA and 22-7 overall.

How it Happened
• The Jens hit .276 for the match with 50 kills and 16 errors.
• UCM's defense was strong once again with 55 digs and held the Hornets to a .168 attack percentage.
• Both team's struggled on the serve with the Hornets committing seven service errors and the Jennies six.
• Central Missouri picked up one more blocking point, 7-6.
• The Jennies scored the first three points of the match with kills from Aubree Bell and Audrey Fisher and an ace from Kylie Hohlen. It looked like UCM was set up well, but the Hornets fought back in a set that saw 11 ties and six lead changes. After the Jennies led 3-0, neither team had another three-point lead until a kill from Kasey Hohlen made it 20-17 Jens. The Hornets again fought back though and went back on top one final time, 24-23. They couldn't close out the set though as UCM got three straight kills from Ally Offerdahl, Fisher and Molly Lawrence to escape with a 26-24 first-set win.
• Set two was the outlier of the match. The Jennies went up 4-3 and never looked back. A 13-2 run put the Jennies up 16-5 and they were able to cruise to a 25-12 win. The Jennies landed five of their seven blocks in the set with Fisher knocking down four.
• The third set was another wild affair with seven ties and two lead changes. The Jennies took charge early, 7-2, and led for most of the set, but the Hornets weren't giving in easily. They continually cut the Jens lead down to one, and when it looked like UCM had the win at 27-25, an overturned call retied the set at 26. But that was no sweat for the Jennies though. They needed just two more points, a kill from Kasey Hohlen and an ESU attack error to put the match away.
