Softball Splits Two Games in Durant

DURANT, Okla. – Central Missouri split two games Saturday afternoon/evening in Durant Okla. The Jens won their first game of the day with a 9-0 win against Oklahoma Christian in five innings. In game two, Central Missouri lost a lead to host Southeastern Oklahoma, falling 6-4. The Jens move to 1-3 on the season with one day remaining in the Southeastern Oklahoma Invitational.

Game One: UCM 9, Oklahoma Christian 0 – 5 Innings.
Central Missouri picked up their first win of the season with a 9-0 win over Oklahoma Christian in five innings. Senior Allison Tonyan won her second career game, pitching a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits while striking out three.
 
UCM racked up 11 hits and drew five walks at the plate. Ali Jo Rogers, Emily Robinson and Makayla Schoonover all picked up two hits. Robinson drove in three runs and Jill Lucas was 1-for-2 with two RBI. The Jens also swiped six bases. Rogers stole three herself.
 
The Jennies scored in every inning in which they came to bat. They got on the board in the first inning when Lucas delivered a two-out base hit to score Lauren Mabe and Alexis Koop.
 
They added three more in the second inning, taking advantage of three Eagle fielding errors. The Jens big hit of the inning was another two-out, two-RBI single, this time off the bat of Robinson.
 
Central Missouri added an unearned run in the third and scored another three in the fourth. Robinson delivered an RBI double and the Jens got an RBI walk from Giacone and an RBI single from Alex Leonhart. Tonyan pitched another shutout inning and the Jennies earned their first win, 9-0.
 
Game Two: Southeastern Oklahoma 6, Central Missouri 4
 
The Jennies scored runs in three of the first four innings, building a 4-0 lead. Rogers created a run in the first drawing a walk, stealing second and third before scoring on a throwing error.
 
Central Missouri added two in the second, taking advantage of two Savage Storm errors and going up 3-0.
 
Rogers drew her third walk of the game in the fourth, this time to score a run and stake the Jens out to a 4-0 lead.
 
Things unraveled in the sixth though, as the Savage Storm batted around, scoring six runs on five hits. A bases loaded walk and two RBI double cut the lead to 4-3. SEOSU tied the game on a sacrifice fly and took the lead for a good on a two-run home run from Laramie Beal.
 
The Jennies managed three hits on the afternoon, on apiece from Giacone, Brittany Kendall and Schoonover. Rogers drew three walked and stole three more bases, giving her six on the day. Giacone and Schoonover also swiped a bag.
 
Robinson started for the Jennies. She threw five plus innings, allowing four runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and five walks. Jordan Johnson came in relief to pitch one inning, giving up two runs on three hits with a strikeout.
 
The Jennies finished their trip to Durant, Okla. tomorrow afternoon. They'll square off with Southwestern Oklahoma and a rematch with Arkansas Tech.
