Quest for 200Senior
Jakki Prater is just four hits away from becomming the third Jennie to join the exclusive 200 hit club. Standing at 196, Prater would join
Braylyn Bivens (210), who collected her 200th a season ago and Beth Savage (222) who did so in 1995.Â
Closing in on 1,100As Prater is nearing 200 hits, the softball program itself is closing in on another milestone. UCM softball stands at 1,094, just six away from 1,100 all time.
Shockley's Favorite Number - 0Senior
Katie Shockley has been overpowering teams of late. She is 6-0 in her last six starts improving her record to 10-5 on the season. In that span she's logged 39 innings and allowed just three earned runs - an ERA of 0.54. She's only allowed an earned run in two of those six starts and has completed all six. With one more victory, Shockley will amass 30 for her career.Â
Running into the Record BooksJunior
Ali Jo Rogers is quickly ascending the career stolen base leaders. Rogers has 27 this season, two shy of the single-season record and 68 for her career. Her 68 puts her third in UCM history behind Bivens (76) and Heather Whitcomb (81).Â
Rogers is also currently on an 11 game hitting streak, longest by a Jen this season. In addition, she's reached base in 20 straight games.
Lindsey Dawson had a 21-game on-base streak (last three from 2014, first 18 from 2015) recently come to an end. Since on-base streaks were first kept in 2003, the longest is 22 games from Rachel Adams back in 2006.Â
Four is the Magic NumberWhen the Jennies score at least four runs in a game this season, they are 23-5.
One Run GamesThe Jennies have had a penchant all-year for winning close games. In games decided by one run, UCM is 8-2. They are also 5-3 in games decided by two runs. Of their 36 games, exactly half (18) have been decided by two runs or fewer and UCM is 13-5 in those games, a big reason for their 26-10 start.Â
.400 AverageSophomore
Lauren Mabe is attempting to do what only six others have done in UCM history. Mabe leads the Jennies with a .413 batting average which if she maintains will be the fourth-best single-season average in team history.
