(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – With a constant steady rain falling at the South Recreation Complex the entire match, Jennies' soccer (1-0) claimed a 4-2 victory over Winona State (0-1) in the 2012 season and home opener. The win also gave Jennies' head coach Lewis Theobald his 80th victory, passing Jennies' soccer first ever head coach, Al Iantorno, to become the all-time wins leader in Jennies soccer history. His record at UCM now stands at a stellar 80-16-8.

Junior Becky Lackey got the Jennies first goal of 2012 in the third minute when she was able to hammer home a deflected save by Winona State goalkeeper Alexandra Vial. The Jennies got another goal just 12 minutes later when Warrior defender Nikole Porter couldn't control a powerful cross pass from Jennies' sophomore forward Nicki Wisnasky, accidently deflecting it off her knee into her own net, giving the Jennies a 2-0 lead. Winona State answered in the 28th minute when Devon Richards controlled a rebound off the goal post from a free kick to score, slicing the deficit in half, 2-1. Central Missouri didn't waste any time answering the Warrior goal. Jennies' freshman striker Alexis Robbers placed a perfectly timed header into the back of the net in the 34th minute for the first goal of her collegiate career, giving the Jennies a 3-1 lead heading into halftime.

The Warriors came out of halftime and pulled the match within one in the 49th minute after Winona State forward Taylor Zehren headed the ball into the Jennies goal off a Samantha Fegan assist, making it 3-2. Becky Lackey provided the answer for Central Missouri in the 77th minute, netting her second goal of the match off yet another rebound, this time off the goal post, giving UCM the 4-2 win.

Jennies starting freshman goalkeeper Morgan Hartzler and junior goalkeeper Jessica Grindstaff teamed up to make a combined five saves on the night, with Hartzler picking up her first win as a collegiate goalie.

The Jennies are right back in action Sunday afternoon, hosting another key regional match against Minnesota State at the South Recreation Complex. First kick is set for 12 p.m.
