(BLOOMINGTON, Ind.) – University of Central Missouri Mules Wrestling went 1-2 Friday evening at the University of Indiana quad meet, claiming a 24-16 win over Calumet College of Saint Joseph then falling to Division I Indiana, 39-4, and Lindsey Wilson, 32-15.
Winners in the Mules first match against Lindsey Wilson were
Eric Mateo (St. Robert, Mo.) at 133 pounds,
Ryan Mallen (Cameron, Mo.) at 149 and
Todd Brier (Nevada, Mo.) at 165. Mateo won by forfeit while Mallen defeated Scott Flesher of LW, 8-3, and Brier pinned Mark Back of LW in 4:08.
In the Mules second dual against Division I Indiana, Mateo was the lone victor for Central Missouri, defeating the Hoosier's Ryan Nieman 12-4.
The Mules victory over Calumet College in the final dual saw Mateo,
Nick Viterisi (Bloomington, Ind.), Brier and
Willie Ressel (Springfield, Mo.) pick-up wins. Mateo won by forfeit for the second time in the meet while Viterisi pinned Calumet's Chad Allen in 2:16. Brier pinned Mark Daugherty of Calumet in 3:53 while Ressel won his match by forfeit.
The Mules return to the mats December 3
rd at the Simpson Invitational in Indianola, Iowa. Wrestling starts at 10 a.m.
